FISU have formally announced (in July 2026) that the 2027 FISU University World Cup Football event will no longer be held.
Football will revert to a World University Championship event with the inaugural event held in China in 2028. The exact host city and event date will be released in conjunction with the 2028 FISU World University Championship calendar.
With the discontinuation of the 2027 FISU University World Cup Football event, FISU Oceania will no longer hold a Continental Qualifying tournament in 2026,
